West Bank
Just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans exists a diverse geographical area of unique communities known collectively as the Westbank. Parts of both Orleans and Jefferson Parishes are housed there including Jefferson Parish Sherriff’s Office Headquarters and Courthouse in Gretna. Old Gretna, in fact, is home to many historic homes and annually hosts one of the New Orleans Area’s premier events, Gretna Heritage Festival.
Speaking of historic homes, you will find many of those in Algiers Point as well. Algiers Point is a vibrant levee community located just a quick ferry ride from downtown New Orleans.
If fishing is your thing, the Lafitte area has waterfront properties that are
perfect!
There are also many suburban areas on the Westbank such as Marrero, Terrytown, Harvey, and Algiers to name a few. Lots of great golfing out this way, too.
